The song is fun, light hearted and the singer has a great voice and impressive range. Two years ago I would have shunned this music because the lead singer is one of those Indonesian folks, but I have slowly learned that even gross people have feelings and I should try and respect their dumb cultures.  I was never a huge fan of “indie” music before I met Chris, but he has introduced me to some pretty cool bands. I consider that to be a fair and equal trade, as I introduced him to anal sex.

I was not a fan of the Gaga at first, as I have said many times before, but she continues to capture my attention. I wasn’t even really a fan of this song, I didn’t even know it was her when I first heard it actually. However, thanks to this bizarre video I am having trouble getting the damn jingle out of my head. The video absolutely makes no sense and at several times I found myself uncomfortable watching it. Not because the video was too much for me, but because it was so odd I was embarrassed for the people involved in it. I also happened to enjoy the portrayal of the butch lesbians that filled the prison. It was like an army of small town bull dykes auditioned for the video and the director said, “Fuck it, why not.”

Besides the fact that it is really long for a music video, it is also loaded with product placement. I could not tell if it was satire of just bad production design, but I do know one thing. The scene where she makes the sandwich is the best thing I have seen all year. I have been eating sandwiches for the past 4 days because of this video and every time I make one, I do the little dance only to realize it is these little things that will assure my single status in life.

Overall, interesting video, even if I have no idea what’s going on. I have noticed something while this video has been making the rounds, gay men LOVE IT. They don’t just love it, but they think it is the most amazing thing that has ever been created since whatever it was they loved 30 minutes before that.

I am a fan of the Gaga and I don’t care what you say about that. She tickles my pickle and seeing how that is the gayest thing I have ever said, I owe you nothing else.

Good ol’ Fred Phelps is at it again!

He and his Westboro Baptist “church” members have set their sights on the pop/performance artist Lady Gaga claiming she is some kind of evil, senseless whore who was sent forth to turn our younger generation’s hearts and minds away from God and toward her glittery peash.   All I can say is, wow.

Phelps’ church is currently in the midst of a campaign against Lady Gaga stating in a recent press statement their intentions to picket Lady Gaga’s next performance in St. Louis, MO on January 7.

“Thou hadst a whore’s forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed…Will He reserve HIs anger forever? Will he keep it to the end? Behold, thou hast spoken and done evil things as thou couldest.” Jer 3:3,5

“Art” and “fashion” are the euphemisms, the guise under which proud whore Lady Gaga teaches rebellion against God (incidentally, her claim to the title of “lady” is sound only if she tacks on “of the night,” thereby alluding to another euphemism of what she is.) As much as she’d like to pretend otherwise, there’s nothing new or different about this particular hussy’s pretentious prancing. Does the simple slut truly think that she can change God’s standards by seducing a generation of rebels into joining her in fist-raised, stiff-necked, hard-hearted rebellion against Him? Get real!

Even as she gives lip-service to “liberating” her young fans, Lady Gaga brings them into slavery to their own corruption, teaching them to glory in their shame. She hates you! “For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness…While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption!” 2 Pet. 2:18-19

Lady Gaga aside, you’d have to be living under a rock not to have heard about these truly wonderful people by now.  The warmth of their hearts pours out upon the world in such forms as their signature “God Hates Fags” and “God is America’s Terror” signs.  If however you find yourself still not knowing anything about Fred Phelps or his church then here’s a link to the official Westboro Baptist Church website and you can see all the Christ-like-ness for yourself.

It took me quite some time before I actually checked out their website myself.  The water cooler stories, CNN interviews and my vivid imagination were, I thought, enough to paint a pretty accurate picture of Phelps and his church…turns out I was way off.  There’s an entire untapped well of seething ignorance and hatred underneath the surface just waiting to be explored.

What cracks me up most is their website–it’s pretty sophisticated for a bunch of lunatics.  I mean, they’ve got some reasonably advanced web design from what I gather which absolutely befuddles me.  Who the hell would build and design their site for them?  It had to be someone within the church because no sane person on the outside would and if so, what douche bag from their clan actually went out into the real world, went to school and got a degree in web design or, in a more realistic scenario, a vocational school certificate, then came back and built this shit?

All this nonsense makes me miss the days when Madonna was just a “slut” and the Catholic Church knew it but they kept their mouths shut anyway.

Adam held his own, in what appeared to be, a situation where the interviewer was attempting to push an agenda or hoping to make him feel guilty for his AMA performance. Once you watch the video, her bias is hard to ignore, but that could just be me paying attention and using my ears.. who knows?

When pressed about the issue Adam stated that he wasn’t a babysitter and that it was the job of the parents to be watching their own children, especially considering his performance appeared at almost 11 o clock at night. Parents in America are notorious for blaming television for the things that are being shown to their children, rarely taking responsibility for their child’s viewing habits.  This blame game reaches well beyond the gamut of live television or even sitcoms. Family Guy is often bombarded with this kind of lazy parenting and the show even references this from time to time.

Hot!

CBS blurred out the male on male kiss from Adam’s performance, but had no issue showing the Madonna/Britney incident from years earlier. This is even more noteworthy considering Adam draws attention to the apparent double standard in television and pop music, during his interview. CBS had responded to the double standard with this.

“We gave this some real thought. The Madonna image is very familiar and has appeared countless times including many times on morning television. The Adam Lambert image is a subject of great current controversy, has not been nearly as widely disseminated, and for all we know, may still lead to legal consequences.”

The logic behind this is questionable, simply being that if it was the act that was inappropriate and not the amount of times it was viewed, both images should have been deemed inappropriate. Homophobia is alive and well, no matter how often people attempt to paint Hollywood as a liberal bastion of gay sex. Trust me… it’s not. I lived there and I was rarely offered free homosexual sex… and you know I tried!

Gross.

"Is that a positive depiction of gays and lesbians inside your mouth? Here let me just get that real quick..."

In her article, which you can read here, Jennifer Vanasco, editor in chief of 365gay.com and Huffington Post.com contributor, takes aim at the former American Idol contestant and discusses the hypocrisy seated within Lambert’s AMA performance as well as his personal views on his sexuality.

“You told Out Magazine that you didn’t make a big deal out of your sexual orientation during American Idol once pictures of you kissing a man had been exposed because:

“I don’t understand why it has to be about my sexuality. I’m just not going to talk about it one way or another. . . . And then when those pictures came out, I was like, you know what? I thought maybe I’ll just own it and say, ‘Yeah, I’m gay.’ But I didn’t want to label myself.”

That’s interesting, Adam Lambert. When you were worried about winning a contest, you didn’t want to openly attest to being gay. (And, in fact, your people were worried that you would seem “too gay” on Out’s cover.) BUT, when you wanted to make a splash in public, when you wanted to get noticed – suddenly you were all about gay sexuality.”

Vanasco goes on to criticize Lambert for his timing and lack of responsibility as a pop culture figure during a period of political uncertainty for the LGBT community.

Personally I don’t agree with everything Vanasco says in her article.  I think she comes off a bit irrational and her article’s title doesn’t hide her disdain for Lambert as a public figure either, but she does have some valid points.  For ABC to even acknowledge the measly 1,500 complaints about Adam Lambert’s performance and then cancel his Good Morning America performance the following day, when the entire show was loaded with acts from straight, female performers shaking their beef baskets in front of the masses, was not only incredibly hypocritical but nothing more than a knee jerk reaction to a situation that needed no handling.

No matter what your views may be on the situation, one thing is clear.  It’s a telling sign of our society that a badly choreographed song and dance by a boy in eyeliner has more political sway than all of the elected representatives and grass roots campaigns combined.

I’m depressed now.  I need a little cake.
